How loud should the heater pump be?

I used my heater for the first time today as it got down to around 30 last night. It sounds like a muted cordless power drill but can't be heard over the fan. It quieted down some after it ran a while. When turning the heater off it runs for a short time after the fan stops. Is that noise normal? Its not super loud but you can definitely hear it if the fan is off. Heater works great at least.

This is what mine sounds like, would be abit higher pitched at 14 volts. Can't say I have ever noticed it from inside the car.

Mine sounds like that only a bit louder. Its not loud enough to hear over the fan but I can definitely hear it in the car. When you first turn on the heat the pump starts first and then the fan(s) come on and you can hear it then and also when shutting the heat off the fans stop right away but the pump runs a few seconds more. It did quiet down a little with use. The car had been sitting before I got it and this was probably the first time the pump has been on in a long time.
