How to set Jack stands if both tires flat?
This morning I realized I have one rear tire flat. Ok got ready to Jack up entire rear so I could set Jack stand for safety.
It was then I realized you can't fit a Jack under the car if tire flat. In this case I could temporarily fill flat with air, but this prompts a big "what if?" Question. Let me ask and file the answer away before it happens: How could you set 2 Jack stands, one on each side rear, if you had 2 flat rear tires? There's probably an easy answer, but if be stumped so let me see what you think. The Jack stand uses the notch in front of wheel , then where would you put a jack to lift car up? Thanks John |
John - there is a bracket with 4 bolts in between the 2 rear tires. Can you get a floor jack under that bracket and raise enough to get the jack stands in place?? disregard the "pry here" and "undo" as I pulled the pic from a replacing rear shocks thread.

Thanks Steve, don't go to any trouble, this ones a hypothetical (what would I do if this ever happened? ).
Thank God this flat happened in my driveway near a compressor. I could inflate the bad tire enough to get the hydraulic jack under the car. That got me thinking and I realized I wouldn't know how to get the rear or the front onto Jack stands if tires were flat. Thanks for jumping on this question though. I / we appreciate your help. You could use the car jack (in the boot toolkit) to lift the car slightly???????

Steve, good photo. That's where I tried to get to, no room.
Bob, yes of course. Using the cars Jack will probably give the room. I knew it'd be something obvious, thanks to you both. John |

I have a buddy that swears by the inflatable jack, it's only 2 inches uninflated and would go under darn near anything.
I think I would order another colour or be temped to draw a face on it and put it in the yard during October. |
