I am just looking at replacing tyres on my xk8. It has 255/45zr18 on the rear. Can I go to 275 width on the same rims without wheelarch issues?, if so what experiences are there with traction. thanks, Alan

 

On my 02 XKR I have 285/30 on 20 inch rims with no rub, so i would think that you should be OK with 285/18 ? Also traction is not a problem.

 

Stock tires are more than enough traction,the brand counts.

Be sure your tires are set from the door sticker on the driver door, or passenger door areas, its low.I set mine at 29 psi cold.


As the tire warms up from rotating, the pressure goes up, so the 29psi might go up to 33 psi, still comfortable and sticky to the road.
