Hydraulic Hood Leak and a Gearbox failure. But sense of humour not failed yet.

After spending this years car budget, in April, on new timing chains, tensioners and guids + an aluminium thermostat housing,

I was just considering a gearbox oil change when the rear shocks went in May. (Seperate thread).

This delay gave the gearbox time to fail (June). 1 Rebuilt/ upgraded/ Reconditioned gearbox later. (At least it had fresh oil in it that was put in when it was fitted to an XJ in December that then failed its MOT in Feb.)

Last week ( Just before it went in for its gearbox) I notice that when using white XKR's remote roof closer (still very practical and cool), it wasnt closing fully. Futher investigation indicated low hydrolic fluid. After a top up all appeared well, but the fluid level is going down again slowly. (No green shower or any other evidence of leaks).

Where would the fluid appear, if not above the rear view mirror?

regards

Take a look around the rams, it's probably a seal leaking, top hydraulics can rebuild them for $150 don't know about the shipping.
If it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have any!

Breed 'em tough in Yorkshire.

As a tin top owner, I can only offer sympathy on this latest setback.
