I love my XK8
 

There’s nothing like an old Jag, that smell of leather and an oil leak. I daily drive my 01 XK8 coupe and while she isn’t perfect she has no rust and runs great, the headlining recovering? Sure, I’ll get to that. The suspension rebuild ? Yes, that too in good time.

It’s also nice to receive compliments on the car when I’m picking up groceries….So for those of you out there (and you know who you are) it’s pronounced:Please circulate :icon_cool:

in the southwest USA where I’m from if you say anything other than Jag -U-WIRE’ no one will know what you’re talking about.

this is me in front of one of my two e types right after replacing the head gasket and doing a “valve job” in my driveway. Circa 1979. The next day I drove it non-stop (except for gas and restroom breaks) from Norman Oklahoma to Santa Monica California, averaged about 90 mph for the whole 1,500 miles. Just flying flat out at night thru the Mojave desert.

Now that is what a Jag is for, good for you.

I will respectfully disagree. The cat has always been called Jag-war, Hence the car is also. I have learned to wince less while watching Top Gear as they talk about our cars.
Around my parts it's usually a Jag-wire with whar wheels!
Also at a ripe old age of barely 19 I had a '67 FHC, Oh my what fun to drive. TM

All car lovers should drive a Jaguar at any given point of their life road trip.
On the diction: I am Italian, and so we say: "Jughuar", and always refer to her in the feminine gender : "Ma che bella Jaghuar!"

Hey hellcat, good to hear it’s back on the road! I can’t thank you enough for loaning me the tools to get my timing chain job done, and I still owe you! I already went through the process of front suspension redo(shocks, mounts, bearings, bushings, sandblasting and repainting everything, hub bearings, ball joints, tie rods, sway bar bushings etc.) so if you need anything let me know. I also spent the 100+ bucks for a quality abs ring removal tool, and figured out a good way to implement it. I’ve also spent countless hours researching and sourcing parts, and documented and kept track of most of them and where they came from. So if you need anything or help if you decide to tackle something just let me know! One of these days we need to go for a tandem cruise! I think we’re the only two in our immediate area who love and appreciate these old xk8’s, only because we know what taking em out for a cruise is like!!! Pure old school power coupled with ultimate luxury!! Something these kids and their low level bmws today know nothing about!

Well me too - love the '98 conv drive it every day. the weather is starting to cool down some so the top is down almost always have a night drive thru a park I'll do a good bit with the tape deck playing something from the cars to the doors - very fine pat on the tail and thank the gril daily.

'round these parts it's just Jag. For the Spanish speakers it's hag- WAHR. :D

Well back in UK, I love My 2000 Convertible.yes it has gremlins here and there, however it gets better every year, after nearly 3 summers of ownership..never ending or trouble.
The compliments do flow from young boys pointing out to their Dads etc. and I have even had "my daughter worked on the design team", from a charming elderly couple..:)

After 5,000 trouble-free miles in the last 12 months, taking it up to 106,000, my lovely XK8 convertible has just passed its annual inspection (MOT) first time with no advisories. I think I'll treat it to a North Wales run with the roof down this afternoon. Wave to the kids under 15 and their grandfathers who seem to make up the fan club!

Looks familiar. My first and only XKE. Willow Green, dark green inside. Had it for almost a decade. Sold it when BL took over Jaguar and parts were no longer available.

My 2006 XKR is a great car to drive but found that the 2006 model X100 was made just half of the year in 2006 when the new model X150 hit the market. The issue was that the electrical parts had changed like the turn signal switch so needing a new one bought one for 2006 model and they got me the wrong one, for the new X150. So now when ordering parts I tell them it's a 2005 not the actual 2006.

trade - well no I would not - granted it makes more power but i'll bet we don't know what the word expensive
means until you maintain a Bently - and compared to the curves and body flow of my XK8 it looks like box
with an excessive grill and plastic back window = nope I love my XK8!

So if you wouldn't trade it for a Bentley, what would you trade it for ?

I agree on rejecting the bentley but after a good long look at a ferrari spider roma on the m1 yesterday I think I'd be tempted.
