Idle adjustment?

I have had my 2001 XKR for about 5 months now. Love it! I have done most all I need to get it to my personal standards. I have one little issue that bugs me though. At idle and in gear I have a slight shake. If I press the accelerator ever so slightly, the tach hardly moves, but it smooths out to the point you don't feel the engine at all. It there a way to manually boost the rpms up about 50rpms?

what is idle at?
what is idle in drive foot on brake?

I can not really read the tach except as a reference. What do you think?

RE: Idle adjustment?

My 2000 XK8 guages readexactly the same and the engine has no vibration. Based on the quality of the other instruments I would suggest that the RPM's displayed is only a reasonable approximation. In your case it is just less than optimal.

The real question is what needs to be done to raise the RPM's by 50. Since the ECM controls that number based on engine sensorinputs, and I do not see a stop adjustment,I do not have a good answer for you.

if its a rough idle.. may need injector flush..

Just did that. Got rid of two cyl misfires.

Could be ignition coils, vacuum leak. All kinds of possiblities there.

Just purchased a 1997 XK8 which runs very smooth, starts fine and so on, but has a lumpy idle feel even though the gauge reads abut 750 RPM, will try the injector flush, otherwise any ideas?

Use the BG 44K and replace the spark plugs with NGK Iridium plugs. It solved my problem!

Just for kicks, if it is a mild rough idle like somethings is just not right but everything is fine while you drive the car sort of thing. Check out the bottomside of the snorkel at the corrugated area. The heat from the exhaust has no where to go and on mine it cooked this area and was full of cracks. Thus my xk was rough idle while sitting but everything else was fine. If that turns out to be it I can tell you how to fix it for about $25.00 without buying a new snorkel.
