Xk8 parking light problem
Hello and thank in advance for any help. I installed a Garmin Navi in my 98 xk8 yesterday I used the accessory plug behind glove box for power. Today I noticed my parking lights front and rear are both not working. I check fuse 19 and 21 in the trunk but they were both good. Any idea what to check next ? Everything worked fine before I installed the Navi. I don't believe I was anywhere near any other wiring besides the accessory plug behind glove box and installing the relay in trunk fuse panel to make it work. Thanks

No, the diodes look fine!
BPM not necessarily faulty - there's a large 104-way plug on it that might have come partly out of place.
I've never delved that far under the dash on mine so I don't know its exact location. You might try unplugging and re-seating the connector, but do disconnect the battery first...

Hard to believe that the BPM would have got damaged by adding a relay in the trunk. There is a connector (LF1) that all the feeds to the front lighting pass through, but that doesn't explain the missing rears.
I was thinking that something got disturbed:- usually when something breaks after last job done then revisit that job LOL
I've re-checked JTIS to see if I've missed anything. Not entirely helpful I'm afraid, but I'd break out the multimeter and check continuities - particularly around power for the BPM before condemning it. Do you have the wiring diagram for the '98? - it's on Gus' oracle:

and probably in the stickies.
I'll take a fresh look tomorrow (it's 1:30 AM here) and report back.
Good luck,
Mike

I just found the problem moments ago. After alot of testing and head scratching. I finally checked the headlight switch/ turn signal lever by removing the lower steering wheel trim piece. As soon as I took it off I noticed a loose green wire. I touched it to the spot it had come unsoldered from and everything lit back up! Tomorrow I will remove the steering wheel and stalk and get everything soldered up. Thank you so much for your time and all your help.

Problem solved
I found this person having the exact same problem and followed all the directions which led me to the turn signal stalk. Now all my lights including front and rear fog lights are all functioning as they should. http://www.justanswer.com/jaguar/6dwek-tail-lights-not-working-work-fine-put-power.html

o2,you have a really cunning resident Jaguar gremlin.
He's thought "He he - busy under the dash so I'll just pull this wire off the light stalk. He'll never notice and it will confuse everyone and he'll get the blame for breaking something"
The fogs, of course, won't work because the BPM inhibits them unless the sidelights are on.
I'm sure someone posted a write-up on stalk R&R recently - possibly Johnken.
Glad you got there so quickly.
