Hi Jim,

I am unable to open any of the TSB attachments in your post. Is there something else I need to do to access them?

Many thanks!

Save the files and open them locally. It'd help if you said which OS and browser you're using as the advice may vary for different systems and apps.

This is a Word file. I am using Firefox and Windows 7. I have Word 2003 (with a converter for Word 2007) I see no way to open this file or to save it to my hard drive. If someone knows how to open it, please let me know...Thanks

I don't know why you are having trouble downloading the Word file but here it is in .pdf.

Bottom line is that the TSB was issued in August '99 at the start of the '00 model year. If your car was assembled after that you should have the green Pentosin fluid. Check the manufacture date on the driver 'B' column. Check the color of the fluid in the reservoir. The earlier fluid was yellow. Top up if low and green, flush if yellow.

There is also a common problem with the top lift rams leaking without much sign of escaped fluid. If reservoir is low you have a leak that must be fixed.

Also an excellent time to install the pressure regulating system before you blow the hoses which I am surprised hasn't happened yet. Mine blew at 40k mile, 4 year intervals like clockwork . . . three times.

No one has written that when they need to add more fluid to the hydaulic pump 1. where do you pour it into, and 2. Do you need to remove the pump or any special tools. Please advise. Thank you. Maria

Glad you figured it out Maria.

Also check out the Frequently Asked Question thread in our XK8 section that has a ton of useful links to other threads and some off site resources. Check out the links to the convertible top, you're needing to add hydraulic fluid is worrying me. Its a sealed system, and if you're losing it, its leaking somewhere, either the top latch, or at the rams/pistons that actually do the work on the top lowering and raising. Last time I heard a post about checking their fluid, about a week later, the owner got the 'green shower' and had to replace all the hoses.

Hope you fair better!

Default Accessing TSBs

I am a new member and I have followed your instructions. However when I tried to access the XK8 TSBs I got a notice that I did not have permission to do so. Where am I going wrong?

Accessing TSBs
"I am a new member and I have followed your instructions. However when I tried to access the XK8 TSBs I got a notice that I did not have permission to do so. Where am I going wrong?"

Hi jhenryr,

Same thing here. That's when I discovered the post by "h20boy" (Matt), shown above in message #10 of this thread. I should have quoted him when sending my thanks in the preceding message, but was unaware that my post would be disassociated from what I thought I was responding to. I'm still learning, as well.

See below:

Our admin can manually adjust your account to bypass the mandatory period. This 'period' includes a preset number of days that you must be active, and a minimum post count. Once these are surpassed, the magic happens and you'll have full access. I assure you, the time and post count is trivial to a genuine new member, but extremely effective against spammers.
If you need access respond to other posts and get the number up. I think you need 6 or 10 posts, not sure.

Harley, what TSB's do you need?

Hi Gus,

Nice to hear from you. I don't really need anything, thanks.

But I spotted your post on MPC regarding the frustrating "Navigation DVD" issue -- which provided a link to this site -- and I was unable to open your attached PDF file in message #49. So I joined the Forum, and still couldn't open anything. It was while browsing that I discovered Matt's reminder to new members.

Don't know if I'll ever get to the requisite ten posts in order to obtain "permission," considering my inactivity of late. However, I still try to stay informed, and follow select topics.

Hello to all who remember me from elsewhere. You're in my thoughts, even though I'm no longer an active participant.

Default TSBs

Thanks guys. I just fixing the head rest motors on my 03 XK8 which I bought last November. I have the TSB for that and it made the job easy. Would not have known where to start without it.
