Jaguar xk8 1996 alernator FIT

Are there any problems fitting alternator do you have to remove any other parts not mentioned to get to it? Regarding tensioning the belt is it easy? Any suggestions? As people who have done it before know what can go wrong and may know a few shortcuts or tips. I know son't do it! Many Thanks Trev.

Hey

I did this a while ago on my car - it's amusing and scary what happens to the car when the alt is failing. Think partial shutdowns of individual systems on the car whilst trying to nurse it home on battery power, with the transmission *banging* into limp-home single-gear mode.

Anyway... the job itself isn't a bad one. You just need to do it from above and from under the car. The belt/tensioner is very easy to lever on and off given the right size of spanner.

Just be careful with the electrical connector on the back of the alt. Heat can make the connector turn brittle, so go easy on it. Apart from that, it's just a few bolts. I used ratchet spanners, because access is tight for sockets.
