Having just replace the hydraulic hoses to my latch, in putting it all together I thought it might be a good idea to lube the various latch and roof joints.
What sort of product should I use?

Use silicone on the ram shaft. I use WD40.

 

Thanks Gus. Do you mean you use WD40 on the latch mechanism and silicon on the rams?

 

WD40 stands for Water Displacement and the 40 stands for the number of attempts to make it right. I spray a little on my hands or rag and with the roof up i reach in between the roof and the roof liner and rub the ram/lift shaft with the lubricant then operate the roof a few times.
However, if you elect to use a silicone that would be ok. I do not force any products on anyone but I do like the cleaning and lubricating properties of WD40.

I use WD 40 dry silicone. The key is to apply with q-tips in areas were the headliner or interior is nearby. Another method if you do not have time to do that is to spray a cloth and rub the surfaces with a cloth. In addition, get a good rubber treatment for the rails. I use 303 but there is a German product with a hard to pronounce name that is well accepted.
