Although it looks good, Aren't you concerned about the engine longevity now without the harmonic balancer?

I hope you've seen my videos testifying to my intake system of fresh air through the air intake NACAl! I also did the discharge high-performance ... many performances !! So, we talked about this with the foreman of the Ferlito Racing Team and the conclusions are that there will be not problems. The original pulley is balanced, it is true. But we have to consider 4 things: 1- the pulley does not have a precise crankshaft position but only a cone that holds it fixed. when it is disassembled you not remount never in the same position. 2- is cast iron, very heavy 3- has a rubber support between the center of the pulley and the tracks for straps 4- has 3 holes for the extractor, 2 holes in line with the center and one not. For all these features it is vital that the OEM pulley is balanced but is not linked to the engine functions. The coach of the team Ferlito also showed the technical specifications on the subject to me. everything is under control! hope that you understand my bad English!! :-) |
I have seen the intake you have made, that looked really nice/well made.
It is not so much if the pulley is balanced, it is the harmonic balancing function it has, of which I see no evidence in the pictures you have shown (i.e. usually a rubber ring as the original pulley has). Here is an explanation of what I mean: ATI - The Dangers of Power Pulleys & Understanding the Harmonic Damper Hope that helps. |

Good to hear, then you should be fine, I was already surprised Ferlito would make a pulley without the harmonic balancing function to be honest.
