My XKR
I have just bought myself a 1999 XKR, what should I be checking/updating before I put it on the road. any ideas and pointers would be very helpful. This my 1st post here so if this has been dealt with before please excuse me

Welcome to the forum Gerard,
The three main issues to check are: 1. tensioners / timing chains (early plastic tensioners breaking) 2. cooling system (coolant loss / sticking thermostat leading to overheating) 3. transmission (so called 'sealed for life' - recommendations for fluid change) You will find information on these in the https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ts-data-29800/ 'HOW TO' thread at the top of this section. When you get a minute, please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST section and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum. Graham |

I've had the most problems with the coolant system. If you smell hot coolant after driving, but can't find any leaking, don't be surprised.
You'll LOVE this car! Have you stopped by the new member page? |
welcome
