Navigation Bug
Hi...
I have a 2002 XK8. My navigation system works fine with the exception of not being able to find many businesses (most of which have been around for many years). I've never had a problem searching for an address, but business names are another thing. I've had a terrible time with my local Jaguar dealer, who agrees that it's a problem, but say it's a software problem and they can do nothing about it. They did try two other DVDs, and the problem existed on each of them. It appears that there is a problem accessing a portion of the database. Has anyone else noticed this problem? Regards, Linda |
RE: Navigation Bug
i am not familiar with this particular issue, but, what i think the problem....whatever company compiled that disc probably charged a fee, similar to the fee charged by the phone book, to list a business. if all of the discs do it, id bet that those companies are too cheap to pay the fee.

RE: Navigation Bug
Hi Patrick...
Thanks for your thought. I believe that Alpine licenses the InfoUSA database, which definitely includes the missing businesses. I have an aftermarket navigation system on my other car. I've come up with dozens of entries that could be found on the non-Jag system, but not on the Jag. By the way, one of the missing businesses is Neiman Marcus in San Francisco. The store has been there for at least 20 years. Neiman Marcus in Palo Alto IS listed. This XK8 is my first (and definitely last) Jaguar. It's hard to believe that a company that sells a $75K car is willing to tell their customers that it's a software problem, and therefore they won't do anything about it. Regards, Linda |

C'mmon Linda...
To hell with finding business listings on your nav system. Drive the Xk and smile knowing that you are behind the wheel of the most beautifully styled sports car in the world. |
RE: Navigation Bug
