Default Never an issue then boom, engine won't turn over

Just took delivery of my 03 XK8 (37k) from TX to OH 2 months ago. I have been starting and driving with zero issues once or twice a week before I put up for winter. I start it up today (after a couple weeks) and drive a few miles to a friends house and a couple minutes later go to start it up and nothing but a click under hood. Everything boots up OK, steering wheel assumes position etc but starter will not engage...just a click under hood. I tried numerous times within 5 minutes to start to no avail. I shut all current draws down, radio, blower, etc and waited a few minutes and it started right up.
Not sure how old the battery is (looks to have been in there awhile) but could a failing intermittent cell in the battery cause this behavior?
Any thoughts much appreciated

I'd start with the battery, get it checked and go from there.

Yep, battery is first thing to check. If it looks old, it probably is old. You'll be driving again in no time.

I had a similar problem on this past Sunday, but I lost all electrical power to everything.
I wiggled the cable ends on the battery to get home, then cleaned the Battery Terminals and Cable Ends.
Problem solved!
If the battery checks out good, it may just be a bad connection at the battery or maybe at the starter.
