Now this is interesting and I am really excited to hear about the results. Please do a before and after dyno. Are you also increasing the diameter of your intake duct? How much of a power increase are you expecting? Is this a bolt on, or does it require an ECU reflash, etc?

User 070620 10-05-2018 07:30 AM

you must increasing the diameter of your intake duct like my. 83mm

You bored it out? Do you have any other mods on the engine?

avos 10-06-2018 12:08 AM

It is not a bored out version, this looks like is a 82mm Porsche throttle body, which can be bought relatively cheap (see prices ni the 160 euros from Bosch).

Another good find Duece2000!

Is the TPS of that unit similar to our cars? Or are you going t adjust the signals electronically?

Or possibly easiest if the signals are not the same, are you going to fit the original TPS somehow to the TB?

Edit: Considering they are selling the Dutch KMS engine control units, I take it you are going to use that also to control the TB, s adjust the signals electronicaly?

dear sweetheart, this is not a discovery of deuce2000 but simply a picture that sent me the builder of the aforementioned company.
I simply ordered a 83mm TB for my car and I do not know anything else about electronics and whether it comes from porsche or something else.
you could ask the questions to him because he's technical!
I am simply a buyer of a product that I will install when ready.

If a positive comment from me hurts you so much, then I wish you the best in dealing with your problem.

probably after our previous discussion in the forum (upgrade eaton m112) I thought you were ironic to me saying that deuce2000 had only discovered a TB of porsche derivation.
helping me with translations with google translator sometimes the meaning is not well understood.
if yours was a sincere appreciation towards me, I apologize

Ps. I have no problems!

Certainly looked like a positive comment to me and an interest in the technical arrangement.

Avos,
if you wanted to get in touch with Nigel of Pink Bat Motorsports for any advice it would be appreciated. I know that it is already having several requests but it has some difficulties in setting up the electronic part.

Thank you

I was hoping for the community you (your builder) already had resolved it, and considering the low cost f the TB, it would have been great for all the 4.2 owners.

You have my mail, if he doesn't want to go thru the forum he can contact me via mail directly, no problem.

Nigel just wrote me and bought a TB from a car Wrecker to carry out the comparative tests. if he need it he will contact you

avos 10-07-2018 08:46 AM

That's indeed the start, then he will see the voltage curves he needs to match.

If he can't find a good cost effective way to match the TPS voltage signals, I may have a device that can (the one I use for the 90mm TB) which could be interesting if the Bosch unit already fits bolt wise.

Apparently Maxbore is no longer doing Jaguar T-body rebores :-(

User 070620 10-10-2018 01:41 AM
A quanto pare non è più Maxbore sta facendo Jaguar rebores T-corpo: - ([/ quote]

sure that makes them! I also had it done to maxbore before discovering www.pinkbatmotorsports.com

but the modification by MaxBore brings the butterfly valve from 76 to 78.5mm. ( see the photos about it )

this new butterfly will be 83mm!!!!

I didn't know Maxbore stopped doing it, that's a shame.

The 4.0 TBs where easy to bore out to 83mm, but the later (smaller) 4.2 TBs where a bit of a hit and miss, some where only able to go safely to 78 and some to 82.5.

Chances are 99% I would say the Bosch TB works the same with the TPS output as the Hemi 85/90 mm TBs I have used, so the converter I have will be able to work.

Problem is that the signal converter I use to adept it for our Jaguars is expensive (450 euro ish), but as the Bosch unit is relatively cheap, it could be an option for some more demanding setups especially if it is a direct fit bolt wise. The Hemi's I use (from 80 to 90mm) have a wider bolt pattern, so would require much more work and is cost wise only interesting for very high airflow demanding setups.

It would be great for the community if pinkbatmotorspsorts could make a more cost effective converter, otherwise I am willing to offer mine.

User 070620 10-10-2018 04:30 AM

[/ QUOTE]

Nigel of PinkBatMotorsports has sent you an email

avos 10-10-2018 06:16 AM

And I answered already yesterday ;-)

He doesn't have a Jaguar TB, so I suggested you either send yours, or he buys one 2nd hand locally.

So I take it he has not dived yet into the electronic parts.

User 070620 10-10-2018 07:33 AM
E ho già risposto ieri ;-)

Non ha una TB Jaguar, quindi ti ho suggerito di mandare i tuoi o di comprare una seconda mano a livello locale.

Così prendo esso egli non ha ancora tuffato nelle parti elettroniche. [/ QUOTE]

He had written to me that he had bought a used one but when he arrived from the seller he found out that it was not the right model for 4.2L.

I can not send it to him because we have to rehearse as soon as we turn on the new 4.8L engine (it is now missing a little)

I may indeed be interested in that converter.

I have a question- how smooth is the idle of your set up with bigger throttle body COMPARED to stock?
A good way to assess this is to put your hand on the steering wheel and shifter knob during idle and you shouldn't be able to feel vibrations through them.

The reason I ask is that the throttle body size effects this as our cars use the electronic throttle to control idle and during development there was always this compromise of WOT outright flow vs idle speed control.

For most it doesn't matter, for me however, I want my car to be as smooth as possible (already I dislike the mina gallery intake tube and XKR 4.2 power flap due to the noise- so I'm looking at recalculating the Helmholtz frequencies/quarter wave of the bigger zip tubes). When I go for more aggressive cams with more overlap, this could exascerbate the situation. Therefore I may settle for less than 90mm, may be 82-85mm, although I haven't decided yet.

Are there bosch throttle bodies that are in that size range that have the same bolt pattern?

Thanks
