New shock question
Hi Folks. Got the car all apart and my new Bilstein front shocks came in part # 24-067263. There is no spring retention flange for the bottom of the spring to sit on. Just a ridge on the shock casing where such a flange would sit on. I take it you are supposed to force off the old flanges off the old shocks and re-use them? Seems a shame since they are fairly rusted but I can't find anything that would be a replacement part. Anybody done this or have any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

They come off pretty easy with a rubber mallet, You could always clean and paint them. |
I believe the part is referred to as the Spring Pan. I replaced both of mine in the front when I installed new shocks, springs and mounts. The part number is MJA2166BC, and I paid about 8 bucks each.
Lots of photos on that project HERE. Good luck. . |
