A very warm welcome Gary, enjoy the car and the forum. Get the car away from her asap, once bitten, forever smitten.

Welcome Gary. The 2005 was a wise choice in that most of the issues common to the pre-2003 cars will not affect you. I am by no means a skilled mechanic, but I've done most of the little maintenance my XK8 has needed over the 55,000 miles or so that I've had her. So many garages still view the Jag as a complicated, hard-to-work-on exotic. Nothing could be farther from the truth. While quite advanced for their time, the XKs are not that much different from other cars. I find it much more satisfying to fix my cars myself, when possible, rather than paying to have it done for me. Although, I don't think I would have purchased my Jag were it not for the amazing folks who populate this Forum. No matter what issues you may run into, there will always be members willing to walk you through it. Best of luck. Be sure to add a photo when you can!

Welcome!

This forum is one of the best around and you will find it full of useful information. Most everything on these cars can be done DIY if you take your time and among the members there is plenty of friendly advice on what to and not to do.

Like a lot of people on this forum I would not be driving such a beautiful car without the support of the many experienced folks here. Post issues and you will be impressed by how much help you get in a few minutes. Try doing what you feel comfortable or challenged with and then find a recommended indy shop in the neighborhood should other stuff surface. Like repair advice, there is a world of experience with local technicians available here.

You will just have to get her another one.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Jaguar!

Pity Christmas is over, you could have requested a quality set of screwdrivers, wrenches, socket set etc...
Just joking!
Welcome,
Regards,
