Pardon my ignorance, but what is JTIS21
As a newbie, I have been looking for a reasonable shop manual. There are lots of writings here about installing JTIS21. Seems very complicated! Windows XP or Win7? Not a straight forward installation, for sure - and I am not totally ignorant when it comes to computers.
So I went on line and for $25 downloaded a couple of PDF manual from EManualsOnline The Shop Manual was 1920 pages and the Wiring Diagrams was 152 pages. Lots of good stuff! What am I missing?? Why should I get and install the JTIS21 stuff????? |
I haven't seen the Emanual, but I suppose it contains all the info of JTIS 21. Is the download specific for the XK8?

While JTIS21 is nice to have even though it can be a bit of a pain to get working, the pdf Workshop manual, JEPC and wiring diagrams that are available for FREE download in the DIY sticky in the XK8/XKR section forum are just as useful

..... it is also nice to have a PDF source on your Tablet that is always with you on the road or in the garage. There are times when the internet is beyond our reach.
To become totally self-sufficient, I'm hoping to add a Pluvial Panel for battery recharging as a Solar Panel is useless in England. Graham |

For such blessed and increasingly rarer periods of isolation from the OnLine World, I have JTIS (Jaguar Technical Information System) and JEPC (Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalogue) on my laptop together with Jaguar SDD (Symptom Driven Diagnostics).

SDD = Symptom Driven Diagnostics. It's the JLR dealer diagnostics system for Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles. A laptop installation using a Drew Technologies "Mongoose" cable to connect to the vehicle data port.
Plenty of information and discussion in this thread: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...d-truth-32683/ Graham |

The Chinese copies are OK for troubleshooting and code reading BUT I would NEVER risk programming modules with one. Some members have got away with it but there's a few reports of "bricking" the vehicle which is definitely a "sell the farm" situation.

Graham Thanks for all your info. Much appreciated. I realize now that my $25:- download is the same as the Mediafire third edition down load. Live and learn. Also re. your Pluvial Panels..... With our 360 days of Arizona sunshine, my 4.5kW of solar panel provide 100% of my needs. But, maybe more important, no rust on the Jag. |
