Default Performance Chip Attaches to OBD-II?

A friend of mine sent me a link to this page yesterday. I have never heard of the company, and was wondering if anyone has ever heard of the company or tried the chip? I know most chips like this are a hoax, but curious about this one. It doesn't seem to be like most seen on Ebay.

Did a bit of googling and most car forums where members have tried this chip show a LOSS of power. Also see:

I thought it was too good to be true. I wish someone made a chip or programmer for 2000 xk8's. Oh well I guess I have to settle with my cold air induction and Mina exhaust for now.

I really really really want to put a thermometer under the hood. I am 100% certain that those cone filters that are sold as cold air intakes are a scam. There's no way that the air directly behind the radiator in the engine bay is cooler than the air sucked from wheel well.

I had to remove the cold air intake from my XJ8. It kept setting off the computer. (It's for sale!)

Agree--those are really hot air intakes!

You have to do a little bit of fabrication to get them to fit just right, but if you take the time, you can get a pretty good seal and close off the hot engine bay air, there is a post on here somewhere to show you how to do it. That is where I got the direction to do it. It took about an hour, I am very happy with it, I have never put a thermometer under the hood, but I am sure it sealed off a great deal of the hot air coming in. I will check the archives today to see if I can find the post that shows how to do it. The one I purchased came with a heat shield, and yes if I just thew it on, it would have sucked a great deal of hot air from the engine. I have also seen a great deal of them sold without any heat shield, this would have made the fabrication much more difficult for someone like me with the lack of fab equipment.

Slightly off topic but speaking of under hood heat, I've had my 99 for a little over a week, and my son and I noticed it stays hot a LONG time, is that typical for you guys? Isn't running "HOT" or anything, but seems the engine cools very slowly.

Haven't paid attention, but I will today, and not saying its TOO hot, just seems the engine holds the heat.
