Powerfold mirrors - extending out too far?!

As per the title really gents...the powerfold mirror on my 2000 XKR passenger side (RHD car) doesn't stop when unfolding - it continues all the way out until it's parallel to the car body!

I think there's meant to be some kind of bump stop that's meant to hold it in the correct position.

Any advice / tips on how to fix without buying a whole new mirror housing?

Thanks in advance!

On the Power Fold Mirror, there's a locating peg moulded into the base (arrowed in red):

Attachment 50945

If the mirror is folded back manually or otherwise dislodged, the mirror head may not be properly located on this peg and not fold to the correct positions. To re-engage the mechanism, power the mirror to foldback position and then back out to the drive position.

If there's a fault with the mechanism, this thread from the X308 section is the best guide to repair:

Within this thread, there's a description of how to deliberately adapt the mirror to fold fully forward.

Awesome! I love this forum. Simply clicked the mirror housing back on to the peg properly and job's a good 'un!

3 second fix. Thanks!

You would also be well advised to squirt a little WD40 in there every now and again.

+1

And for those who have never removed the mirror from the door, the condition of the bracket will come as a surprise:

This mirror is from a 2004 XKR Coupe. The bracket is gradually turning to white powder.
