Primary chain guide, latest version
Greetings From Finland.
I’m repairing my xkr ( x100 ), year model 1999. I’m doing that because of leaking head gasket. Now I’m wondering what kind of those primary chain guides should be... Should those be fully metallic or metallic body with plastic surface? What is the latest version? My another guestion is, because those head gasket was leaking, is there any better guality gaskets? I would like to have gaskets with aluminum “frame”. Is the 4,2litres engine’s gasket aluminum body and is it suitable for 4,0 liter engine? I asked this from finish part dealer, but he couldn’t say. Thank you all for any information for those! And I’m sorry, because I know that about this subject has been discussed a lot, but because my English language, I not so good to use that “search tool”. I just buy the original flat and curved wide 'brown' guide blades from the dealer. The thinner ones are for the Morse silent running chains.
I have used the later Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) gaskets on the earlier engines with no problems. bob |
To clarify, Bob is referring to the 4.2L head gasket.

I think the change is when the silent running primaries were installed. That engine was pretty different in many ways. bob |

The AJ88987 and AJ88988 are the superseded part numbers for the last two or three previous numbers so they should be the correct ones.
