Real quick question front fog lights only work with headlights or running lights on r
Yesterday I noticed my front fogs will not go on. Soon realized headlights work but no running lights either.
logic tells me it's another loose wire in turn signal stalk. I hope! But without it all working I need to check my memory and plan: the front fogs only can be turned on when headlight switch is not in off position right?
Well I bet I can get the steering wheel off I 10 minutes now. . .
thanks
John

Johnken,
I continue hearing about "Running Lights".....You've mentioned them above again....I've looked all over my 2005 XKR for "Running Lights" and haven't found them yet! I have Low Beam HID's and High Beam LED's, I also have Parking Lights, Blinker's and Fog Lights....My Fog Lights will not turn on unless I have my Parking Lights or my Headlights on and then I have to reach over to the Mid-Panel and turn them on. But I still don't know where the "Running Lights are suppose to be...That's why I bought set of Phillips "Day-Time Running Lights" and installed them in the bottom Vent of my Front Nose Piece. Now, I have "Day Time Running Lights" that turn on automatically when I hit the "Clicker" to open the Door and they stay-on until I get out and push the "Clicker" to lock her up! Even then, they stay on for another 30 Seconds to allow me time get into the House at Night....All this Automatically...…..I'm I missing something here? Where are the Running Lights?

Hi Billy, oops - i meant what you know as parking lights. I bet "running lights" is a term from aircrafts or boating.
Don't laugh but I'm used to confusing "Kings English" on this forum, no room to blame them this time. Maybe it's New Jersey English (that's me) to blame :-).
technically I think you are correct with parking lights. If we were talking boating, maybe running lights;, or if George Karlin was alive I could see him doing a skit on this. . .remember his: "why do you drive on parkways, but park on driveways?"
sorry for the confusion, BTW your DRLs sound great.

Daytime Running Lights (DRL) are required in some countries. It is an option on our cars, switchable by the dealer software. We have the choice none, North American, or European DRL. The difference is which lights (headlights/parking lights) come on when the engine is started. I don't remember which one I activated, but in effect the automatic headlights come on as though it is always dark.

the fogs can be used with the parking (or running lights) only. this is to reduce the glare from the dipped or main beams in fog. if you have the lights always on as per the European DRL setting, turning the stalk to parking lights will turn off the main or dipped beams for this reason. engage the stalk to the low/main beam or parking setting under this default to control the brightness of the dashboard lights. curiously under the lights on at all times setting, the auto setting of the stalk switches between dashboard lights day and night setting only.
