Default rear seat delete - convertible

Really, as we all know, it does not serve any real purpose, and with my 6'3" frame in the front, not even enough legroom in the back to slip a picture of my kids in, if I had any living at home these days.

Has anyone removed it, and if so, how did you finish the space left behind? Pictures if so, please!

Many thanks to a most awesome forum..

I've been mulling over the same question.

A forum member known as JaXKR has done a number of fantastic mods to his car, including a nicely-done rear seat delete. The photo album in his member profile has one photograph of that particular project, which can be seen HERE.

Tony Murton of Paragon Design UK, known here on the forum as XKRacer, has probably customized more of these cars than anyone on the planet. I'd love to see if he's done anything interesting back there.

How 'bout it, Tony ?!

I have done it for a customer who was 6' 8, you don't gain a lot as you need to modify the seat track/lower frame to sit back further, we lost the seat belts and actually kept the back but recovered it so it did not look as much like a seat and made a shelf for the base, similar to Jaxkr.
It looked fine and he was happy for the extra couple of inches
Unfortunately I don't have any pics

Tony,

With all of the customization you do, I'm surprised that only one customer has asked for something special in the rear seat area. It certainly doesn't work as a seat, so it seems more people would be converting the space to something more useful.

Or at least something more cool.
