Default Replacing 10A horns with 30A air trumpets

I know, this is probably a horrible idea but nonetheless...

My stock horns are dead and I bought an air trumpet set for 18$. The stock Jag relay handles 40A so it is ok, however the stock Jag fuse is a 10 amp.

Am I going to melt my wiring harness if I just replace the 10Amp fuse with a 30?

I may have found an answer to my own question... on the wires above it has metric gauge 4mm^2 which translates to almost 10 gauge wire. That's really thick wire.

Since I have two Jag horns maybe I should try running the power from each lead, (fuse 11 & 13) with 15amp fuses in each. In theory halving the current that the wiring harness carries per wire.

Besides heat, the concern would be starving the compressor of adequate current to start.

Yes, parallel the two feeds with 15A fuses as you suggest. The runs are relatively short, I think you will be fine, especially since the horns are not run continuously.

Thanks for the reply, im gonna have to go buy some electrical connectors and 15 amp fuses. Will update once its installed.

I tried running briefly off the one 30 amp lead setup, and it was very disappointing. Sounded like someone squeezing a duck

Or you could make a stand alone install with a flick switch.

I once had a Landrover fire engine with the full two tones.

A real hoot for moving through traffic

But the comp was massive + huge relays.

This thread brings up my biggest complaint of my car.

The horn is anemic at best..I'd love to find a horn that reminds me of the pre 1970's Mercedes...that brassy large sound you got when you pressed on that big chrome ring inside the steering wheel circle.
Any suggestions?
