Saggy headlining help

Hi can headling be re glued or are new headling available
Many thanks

Unfortunately it cannot be re glued as the sagging is caused by the disintegration of the foam backing to the cloth. New headlining assemblies are available already glued to a glass fibre backing. I have completed this task and taken photographs. You can find the link here: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...e-what-112611/

Sure it can be. I pulled down my front headliner as well as the A pillars, gently removed the fabric, cleaned off all the loose adhesive from both the fabric and backer boards with a paint brush, cleaned the three backer board pieces and let fully dry, washed the headliner fabric in the gentle cycle (used Shout on all stains), let all three pieces of fabric hang dry overnight, and re-mounted all using a light coat of spray adhesive. Wait for it to be tacky before laying down the fabric to prevent bleed-through. It came out very nice. A full headliner for a coupe may be much more involved, especially when laying back down onto the much larger backer board.

Why re-use the headliner. This was the first fix I did to my 2002 XKR when I bought it in 2011. It only costs around $300 and there are lots of places that perform this work.

I re-used mine because it was in good condition and cost me nothing to fix.

the backing deteriorates. If somehow yours is in good condition you can reuse, otherwise you can get new material for a low price, I think less then 300.

Keeping the inside in good shape really makes it more enjoyable to drive.

I just changed mine and its a pain of a job really needs two people for the install. I used 1/8th inch foam back passion suede and 2 cans of the 3M spray glue. Did a pillars also.

Hard bit is gluing the headliner to the backing board, make sure you get all the old foam of the head board. Then lay the material from the middle to the front first i.e spray glue on half the material and front half of the board then lay material from middle to front edges smoothing as you go (middle to outside) this needs two people one to hold material up and one to slowly smooth as you go then do back half. Leave 1 1/2 inches of material all the way round once dry spray the 1 1/2 inch lip and fold over. This protects the board edges which tend to brake apart its two layers of fiberglass and insulation in between.

Or u can buy a complete finished headliner and just install it. See eBay
