Secondary tensioner job issue
I took off all the cam caps, but the exhaust cam wont budge when I try to pick it up. The tensioner bolts are out and it moves around easily, but I can't get the exhaust cam to lift up. I must be missing something obvious, because I thought this was supposed to be gently lifted up, and I cant get it to lift at all.

detailed in other threads ... but suspect oil surface tension .. give the nose a little "tink" with a *small* hammer while pulling up on the gear and it should pop right off
|
. . . maybe a small wooden or rubber mallet.

I tried it with no success. I am going to try the crank with a breaker bar.
|
Did you rotate the engine to a position where the cam lobes were not in contact or barely touching the buckets before removing the caps?

The crank is either locked with the tool or you have a tie wrap on the chain don't you? |
The rear two cam lobes were still in contact. I rotated the engine a little and it worked when I tried it this time. Thanks guys
