Service computer screen has gone wild with issues

Ok, that screen in the instrument cluster describing all the things that can go wrong, has gone crazy... Hood not latched, tail lights not working, low coolant, Trunk open...
Where is the computer that operates this foolish thing as I need to fix!

Please and thank you!!

Big black box in the luggage compartment with heavy gauge positive and negative cables. :icon_lol:

With multiple weird electrical issues, always check the battery first.

Hi isuralife,

Graham's excellent advice applies to all Jaguars, but for more specific ideas you can help us help you by disclosing the year, model and engine of your Jag.

It's helpful if you use your User Control Panel to edit your signature to add these important details so they show up in all of your posts.

Cheers,

Don

when I first bought my '02 XKR I was plagued with all kinds of warning messages, ranging from the dreaded "failsafe" engine warning, on down to intermittent ABS warnings. Even thought the battery appeared to be fully charged, I put it on a load test and it failed.

I went out and bought the best AGM battery the NAPA parts store could get, and have kept it on a maintenance charger whenever the car is not in motion for overnight or longer. Since then the car has been completely free of electrical issues. These cars MUST HAVE a fresh battery fully charged or your life as an owner will be hell.

If you start the car and go run some errands, turning the engine off at each stop, then come home after a short drive, the battery will not be fully charged up from the drain of several restarts just by driving it several minutes. That kind of use will make you end up with a battery that is not 100%.

Ahhhh... So that's what it is!! With all the smoke and such, I thought it was a left over British Leyland Hot plate made by Lucas Electric!!

Ha... kidding.. batt is fine, voltage and amps correct, however what ever the issue is, it will kill the battery if not started every 4 days
Thanks for the reply..

You mean everyone doesn't have an '04 XK8?? Whats the sense then??

The warnings I get are simple.. "low coolant, hood not latched, trunk not latched, rear lights not working...." yet everything seems to be full and locked
