Hi, I am in the process of getting my car (02 XKR) ready for smog testing. I had the "large vacuum leak" error and after I removed, cleaned etc. the usual suspects I cleared the error.
I now have driven over 100 miles and the error has not been thrown again so I guess I fixed it.
However, when I connect my odb reader I can see that the "readiness" is still showing "No" which means that I can not yet bring it to the smog testing facility. Most cars seem to be ready after driving 100 miles, mine is not. Does anyone have experience with that?

It can take hundreds of miles of varied driving to close all the tests.

Is your OBDII reader capable of giving you a list of the tests not closed out yet? Alternatively, you can also go to the testing station, and if you fail they normally give you a printout of the tests not closed. Also, in may states, you are allow to have 1 test not completed.

WIth that info, you can look up unfinished tests under the 'Monitoring conditions' column in the DTC Summaries section in JTIS and try to replicate the required test conditions and speed completion.

Evaporative System: not ready

Basically you do the intial 13 minutes while parked and idling near an expressway without touching the gas. Then go out fo a drive on the expressway not exceeding 60 MPH for at least 6 minutes. Your gas tank should be about half full. I have had this work for rme.
