ST 210 Diagnostic plug question

Hi all,
Somebody out there must have an answer to this question, what exactly does the ST 210 diagnostic plug (40 pin main connector for WDS) exactly check on the PDU?. and does it check comparability of pins to B203 and B280 cables? as the 280 cable has 2 extra connections in it to the 16 pin cable (to pins 3 and 11) and the 280 cable has an extra connection to pin 5 of 16 pin end.

I am beginning to worry about this tool. After I installed a remote transmitter in 2 Jags(XK8, FType) I began having battery problems. I thought I had used the tool properly, but for some reason, even after removal, I began having Batt. problems, and have had to have 2 Batts. replaced(FType only 1 yr. old. All info I received from these transmitters was unusable at best.
