Steering Wheel Cover Unclipped

I noticed today the cover on my steering wheel looks like it's came apart in the bottom right corner.

This I've noticed is after taking the car for an MOT and maybe they had a problem getting the horn to work, disturbed something and not told me.

I'm just looking for any advice on how to fix and if I need to remove this cover what's the procedure.

I've attached a picture showing the problem

Looks like there center piece is raised?

disconnect battery for 2 or3 minutes, you will be working near airbag. This disables it. I've been taught: for safety never point airbag at self or any one should it deploy.

Take it off and look underneath.

unbolt 2 screws from behind. Belive they are torx. You will have to move the steering wheel for access. Turn wheel so bolt access is above top of steering column. Remove that bolt, turn wheel so 2nd bolt is above column, remove it.

airbag and center pad will fall out into your hands.

I think it will be easy and obvious once off. Bet its just a piece of bent thin metal.

That IS the AirBag!

Looks like it could have been off and not replaced properly.

It is absolutely essential to disconnect the battery and give time for the capacitors to discharge before removing the airbag. I usually leave it 15 minutes and do a hard reset procedure touch the disconnected battery leads together to be certain.

I see you are in the UK and therefore have a coded radio. Check you have the radio security code before disconnecting the battery.

The airbag is secured with two bolts which are accessible from the rear. The only difficulty is the steering wheel has to be turned from side to side to access them. Turn steering wheel 90 degrees to the left to provide access to the LH securing bolt. Slacken captive securing bolt and then turn steering wheel 90 degrees to the right to provide access to the RH securing bolt.

You will probably find that the airbag just isn't seated properly but if it won't fit correctly, the harness routing may need adjusting.

After battery reconnection, you will have to reset the window travel limits and enter the radio code to unlock it.
