Default throttlebody 1997 Jaguar XK8

This morning I found 2 clamps on my air filter were loose.
I took the car for a 20 mile ride and P1226 code did not come on.
Could that have beem the problem or should I still get the throttle body checked out.
Thanks

There is no 'checked out'. It works or if failed it is replaced. I have always had the philosophy that you shouldn't fix what not broke.

Default 1997 Jaguar XK8 throtlebody

I weent to a Jaguar dealer friend of mine and he cleanedd out my throttle body and cleaned all the pins.
Car runs fine now and I am making a 4 thousand mile trip.
Do you think that it will be ok. He said no problem and it my engine
performance light comes on you can still drive it.
When I get back I can get a rebuilt throttlebody for 450 or would I be better off having mine rebuilt.
Thanks all
Dave

An undone clamp on the air cleaner box will not affect the operation of the throttlebody.

As for rebuilding the TB yourself, I don't know anyone who has done this in their home garage. There are a couple of good sources for rebuilt TBs, but stay away from JayTan Industries unless you want to be ripped off.

I have to chime in on JayTan Industries. They rebuilt a Volvo / Bosch K-jet fuel distributor for me quickly and inexpensively, very inexpensively compared to all others I found, and then rebuilt it again under warranty for rust contamination that was clearly my fault. No issues, no discussion.

I had a rusty tank and the pumps were forcing rust straight through the Bosch filter. Destroyed both pumps also.

Can't comment on JayTan and TB's.

Trust me... JayTan Industries is a bona fide ripoff. They screwed by brother out of $1400 for an XK8 TB. Google them and see for yourself. They have an outrageous reputation. The California Attorney General's office has a case against. Here is a sample:

Strange, my two dealings with them were in the same time frame of the assorted complaints.

I sent them a Bosch fuel distributor in May 2012 that the previous owner had attempted to repair and left it leaking. They promptly repaired the unit and returned it. Four months later I sent it back suspecting that rust had gotten into it which they confirmed. On both occasions I called and the phone was answered and voice mail messages were returned.
