Timing Chain Tensioners
I'm preparing to remove and replace the secondary tensioners on my XKR. Where do most people here source the parts from? Jaguar?

I use SNG Barrett. They are a forum sponsor and will give a 10% discount on most orders to forum members (not on online orders, just call them). They are very knowledgable about which parts you will need for your particular year model.

You can get a better price for the metal tensioners from a Ford dealership. You must order the tensioners for a Lincoln LS 3.9L V8 (2000 - 2002 model years.) Ford Part numbers: Ford PN 2W9Z6K254BA Right Secondary metal bodied Tensioner (1 required) Ford PN 2W9Z6K254CA Left Secondary metal bodied Tensioner (1 required) Ford PN W500301S300 Bolt (4 required - YOU MUST USE THESE NEW, SLIGHTLY SHORTER BOLTS) Post number #1 of this sticky: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...thread-115180/ |
Maybe I am being overly "Needy", but after reading the "Bible", has anyone considered compiling a "Comparable parts Catalogue" maybe that could be continually added to and alphabetically indexed as parts are found? I am not smart enough to do the computer work for the indexing. but can occasionally add a part or 2, and would be happy to contribute to any cost of setup fees if needed., not to mention singing the praises of said compilers.

Why does your vehicle need new tensioners? The supercharged engines did not have the plastic secondary tensioners that fail.

I'm not sure where you got your information, but I have replaced the plastic tensioners in two supercharged engines, and have read of many others doing the same.

Not sure your data source but I just removed and replaced plastic tensioners from my 2000 XKR..I believe they were switched to metal in 2003-2006. all the other years had plastic.

Thx. I had not gotten to that 'Sticky'. Variation of the old "RTFQ", when all else fails, "RTF'S'". I just started reading that 'Sticky', as with all things in this forum, it is very informative.
