Update to noise at start-up... RESOLVED!

Hey guys, back on 2/21 i posted about a jingly noise I had at 1st cold start-up, during fast idle. I reported I found a ruptured pleat in the EGR pipe and had ordered a new one. Well, today after replacing the pipe, I can say FOR CERTAIN the noise is GONE! There are NO abnormal noises from that AJV8 at all, Also, I can report that while this car has always run smooth, she is even smoother now. Additionally, during the brief test drive I can say I observed the fuel trims heading back down as well... no doubt from the exhaust leaks being repaired. I can gladly say I have a happy cat once again!... with only 150,000 miles young.

Excellent!

What were the trims and what are they now?

Well, as I recall, prior to the egr pipe leak, bank 2 was pretty darn good, i.e. stft @0, ltft around 4.0. Bank 1 was not quite as good, i.e. stft, 0, ltft 7.2. Now, since the repair I've only driven the car once, for about 70 miles but, I can say the ltft for bank 1 has already dropped to 5.4... and while the stft still bounce along @ around 0, you can tell the negative numbers occur more than the pos. I look for the ltft for both to drop as I think this leak will be picked-up by both O2's over time.

Interesting. That means the trims were "OK" in terms of codes. Thank goodness you had a noise.

Yes!, JagV8... I had NO check eng. light, No codes. In fact I thought the noise was normal... I thought it was the throttle plate. It was when I started smelling exhaust odor in the cabin I started really looking for a problem. And, FWIW, the new pipe was quite larger in diameter than the old pipe... holes in flanges were the same size though..
