Used Oil Pan compatibility?

Today I was assessing the damage done to my engine oil pan. At some point, a previous owner managed to hit the pan with some big rock or something. It has a large dent and is leaking. My original plan was to have it straightened out and to weld the crack. However, upon close inspection, the dent is located around the drain plug and is cracked and leaking a few millimeters from it. My initial plan was to straighten the pan and weld the crack, but the proximity to the oil plug has made me rethink this idea.

I called around and found that a nearby junker has a ‘05 X350 Vanden Plas, and a 4.0 ‘00 XK8. On ebay I found a couple used oil pans. One of the sellers claims that the oil pan, C2A1427, will not fit XK8/R built after 2002, even though that is the part number SNG Barratt lists for my car.

Is the engine oil pan for the 4.2 XKR the same as that on the 4.0 engines and other 4.2 cars, the S-TYPE R, the X308, the X150, and non supercharged X350 and X358?

What brand oil pan gasket do you recommend?

According to the Heritage site, C2A1427 is now the replacement for all X100, so in accord with SNG:

my preference would be to use the OEM gasket:

...although I'm sure there are other, cheaper sources

Thanks, that's perfect! It's time to see if any junkyards have a C2A1427 around, if not, ebay used is the ticket.

You're not tempted by the gold-plated original at around $275? ;)
