Wait, Kate isn't gone! Introducing my new XKR...

Thanks to being able to find and contact Cerberus66 out of the blue last Friday, this gorgeous triple-black 2000 XKR is now mine as of Christmas Eve! I happened to be visiting my favorite import pre-owned dealer in the area which always has interesting stuff, when I met 'Kate' for the first time. She had been there less than 24-hrs and staff had to go find info and a price on her- hadn't even been through detail yet (still hasn't, more pics to come soon). I've always wanted a XKR and have even had a 1:18 scale model of this rolling piece of artwork on my bookshelf for the past decade+. After getting confirmation of its history, recent maintenance and the asking price, my heart started racing realizing the opportunity, and I quickly moved to make her mine before anyone else could. I saught the wife's approval that night (it cost me a new iPad and stack of books I promised her I'd read ASAP), and I took the deal the next day. What an amazing way to start the holiday!

This is my wife's and my 'fun' third-car runabout that we'll be driving around town and to work, supplementing our primary daily vehicles. Good date night car too. It replaces a 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo that I finally got sorted out and decided to let go that the wife never liked. Actually sold it two hours after I bought this- there is one photo of them together! While the wife's preference is for Corvettes and mine is for Porsches, the XKR is the perfect compromise between the two for awhile! We love it.

We haven't spent much time driving it yet due to family Christmas happenings and weather, so it went nearly straight into the garage when I brought her home. Though I had just enough time to pull her out for a gratuitious red-bow-on-Christmas-day photo in an even rarer Dallas snowstorm. The timing could not have been more perfect! Can't wait for the roads to de-ice so I can get out and enjoy her more ASAP. But I'm a forum junkie and come from a line of Audis and Volkswagens in my past, so I'm glad to be here- this is my first Jag. And I'm glad I made it count with a big gun, not an X-Type. I always go top-trim on all my cars. Big thanks to Cerberus66 for all the help and info that gave me the confidence to pull the trigger and save Kate from an uncertain life. Cheers and Merry Christmas!

Beautiful car, congrats, but I am more surprised by snow in Texas. I thought it was wall-to-wall sun where you guys live?

xenophobe Dec 26, 2012 02:58 AM

Congrats, beautiful car.

You can't be too far from me based on how the back of your house/driveway look. I'll wave from the blue cat if I see you around the neighborhood.

The snow was certainly weird, even for Texas. The weather here is somewhat independent and likes to keep us on our toes.

My 70 year old father-in-law was visiting from Mexico City and he had never seen snow before. Can't tell you how funny it was to see a man his age playing in the snow for the first time.

Yes indeed, 2000 XKRs are a Tasty Vintage! :icon_toast:

Welcome to the forum. Beautiful car, Hope you have many enjoyable miles. What's going on in Texas, it looks like Illinois and Iowa? You probably don't have t worry about road salt down there. My XKR was a Dallas native and never has seen snow.

Congratulations! Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the introduction.

I got my 2000 XKR in March and it's easily my favorite car I've owned. My wife is even crazier about it than I am.

My brother may have brought the snow to Dallas from South Dakota. Sorry.
