Want To Install LED Strips Inside Headlights How Do I Remove Headlights ?
 

Like the title says. I want to put LED Strips inside my headlights like the 2012's. How do I go about removing the headlights ?

There are two bolts on top and one underneath. To get to the bolt underneath it's easiest to take off the wheel and take out the wheel well liner. You could also get to it by removing the bumper, but personally, I think the wheel well liner is easier. You'll see the bolts on top and the one underneath you can feel by reaching forward and just feeling around with your hand under the headlight. If you take off the bumper you can see the bottom bolt.

You will still need to sepearting the 2 halves of the lamp unit this still wont make it easy to fit something that looks good though.....Ideally you need to remove the glass from the front section...... Not an easy thing to do as it is bonded with sealant and breaking the glass is very easy..... I have expeimented and succeeded finding a way of doing it.... its a bit of a trade secret in my respect, the how, not so much, the exact settings however are :icon_wink:

I know you can use heat to heat up the edges where the bonded glue is. This should loosen up the surface to remove the cover. I want to install LED SMD strips inside. Would this be a tough job ? Also can you remove the headlights without removing bumper ?

I found Angel Eyes for an S-Type on e-bay not too long ago, and the text said the installer would have to bake the assemblies at an exact temp for a time length. Neither of which I remember the specs. But might be a place to search! Good luck.

Where do wire the LED strip at ? Is splicing required if so where ?

Heating the edges up will not work the glass will shatter, like has been said it has to go in the oven for a certain heat for a certain time, too much and the plastic melts.

There are 2 ways of wiring them up, easiest is into the side like circuit, if you want them with ignition then you need to find a power source from the fuse box on the drivers side engine bay.

Take the bumper off!!! I will put money on it the fixing underneath the light has corroded to the bolt and you will break up the unit, you can not see this from the wheel arch, taking the bumper off is easy enough, 3 bolts along the wing edge each side, 5 bolts along the top, prise out the 3 fir tree bungs, disconnect the wheel arch liners from the undertray via the push in clips, 3 screws holding the undertray to the front cross member

Don't want you to give away the farm, but I am desparately trying to separate the glass from the headlamp assembly and I am having no success.
I have heated the lamps in the oven far longer than I was comfortable in an effort to separate the glass, but to no avail. I have been successful at this operation for the wife's Range Rover Sport and was hoping to duplicate the effort on my baby....98 black on black vert....any hints???

YA --- heat gun along edge --- just did two and had no problem -- just go slow and apply light pressure working your way around lens. Heat plastic to ALMOST soft. The looks like silicon gasket will seperate from the case before it seperates from the glass --thats what you want.
