Would you buy an XKR-100 convertible with a salvage title?
Thank you all for the replies , so assuming the car is ok , what would be a fair price ?
It was hit on the driver side and the new owner was not aware of it nor of the salvage title - although I find this hard to believe- first thing I would check is the title - seller mentions it’s in fantastic condition-
How much do you think it’s worst ?

I think that the best way to establish it's value to you, would be to compare it to other examples that are for sale. It will have to be valued below those in comparable condition. I would think it would be discounted 25-30 percent. You need to get the best deal going in, you're not going to make money on the other end. I'd be courteous but upfront with the seller, tell him that you are interested in the car, but can only pay this price. Leave your number and he can contact you later if he becomes agreeable. In the meantime keep on looking.
hat seller is full of it, If I was really interested, I would take a really close look at the car to see how the repair was done, take a test drive.
If I am satisfy then I would spent the couple $ to get a carfax of this car and that should list what type of damages it had to be totaled.
To me a restored title would not be worth 50% of a clean title.
You need to have the will to walk away if it is questionable.

Agree Ray. I looked at a Corvette. Seller assured me that it was a "minor accident" but didn't have any pictures. Nice car so I did Car Fax and found it was totaled in a freeway accident. Major damage front and rear. Sometimes a salvage title can be a good deal (at the right price) if the damage was cosmetic and pro grade repair.

So, 'fantastic condition' likely means "I'm willing to say anything to sell this car", or "I'm an idiot who didn't know my car had a salvage title, so you probably shouldn't trust any part of my evaluation of this car's condition".
