Xk8 1997 acceleration

hi, i am a new owner of a xk8 1997 , it is a dream came true for me owning this beauty. Wondering it is 22Year’s old, so I know it’s acceleration announced by jaguar when it was new , 6,8 sec from 0-100 km, My question is, what its actual acceleration now in your used car.? Thanks

i figure by the seat of my pants is about 6.5 sec, it is as said"fast enough" as the Jag is a slow car in every way...meaning you just like to take your time in it rather than trying to win stop light races or carve canyons. its a nice ride that likes to take it's time going and doing for me, i in turn seem to be a about 5-10 mph slower on the freeway(where i live in norcal nobody does 65).

I figure about the same as above, 6.5. My favorite is flooring her at about 35mph with sport on. She downshifts right into the sweet spot and nice acceleration.

Mosadin, don't forget how impressive sub 7 second 0 to 100 was back in 1997. Enjoy the ride.

That sounds slow. First thing to do is check your throttle cable is correctly adjusted. Lots of information in this thread, including about the differnces between model years:-

Thanks, I will check and advise

I informed the mechanic about the throttle cable , he advised he already changed it before and he sees that , the car shows it’s power only on reverse transmition while it is weak on forword transmition. He has it now for thre days still looking for the reason. Any suggestions. Thanks.
