Default XK8 Convertible Roof Frame Crack

Hello All,

I've only has my XK8 a few months, but noticed a little while ago there was a crack in the passenger side (US car) convertible frame arm - the one at the front right that goes to the windshield frame (see pictures).

Apart from the the roof is in great shape and has no issues. I wonder if a previous owner placed a heavy item on that side of the car when the roof was retracted perhaps?

Any suggestions? Clearly I would rather not replace the whole roof mechanism.

Can that piece we swapped out? I was wondering if wrapping some fibrefix tape around the offending area might buy me some time.

Thanks!

I did wonder what with 4th July recently....😳

Was at my local mechanics shop today to sort out a few issues and they are going to work on a fix when I drop her off with them next week, so hopefully it’s a non-event.

It was 101f today - was unpleasantly surprised by how hot the metal door handles were! ☀️
