XK8 Milage Question
I have a 2000 XK8 with 68,000 miles on it. The instrument cluster is bad, and I've since purchased 2 others. One has 200,000 miles and the other 88,000 miles. I believe the mileage is actually stored on the cluster itself. Does anyone know which chip it is on?
I read an article a while ago talking about changing or reprogramming the chip to reflect the correct mileage, but I can't seem to find it now. Much Thanks, erjent |
Bit of a waste of time to change the milage ...why not just photo the old and the new and on resale you have proof of the speedo change.
I am not sure if speedos can be changed due to an embedded code linked to the ECU |
Are you concerned with the resale value ? If that’s the case, my feeling is you will not see any difference between the value of a 68,000 mile car and one with 88,000 miles.
Take the photos as mentioned by the previous poster ( @Pistnbroke ) and just move forward. Z |
This video shows that it is possible to clone one instrument cluster onto another, preserving the original mileage. I can't remember if they show where the mileage is stored, but IIRC that can also be adjusted:-
This isn't a DIY process though. |
My speedometer and odometer stopped working.

What exactly are you asking? Do you have a cluster fault?
these are the error codes that came up for my 2005 XK84.2 |
