Hi,

I am thinking of buying a used XK8 in LA (to have a hobby I guess ), but I don't know a reliable mechanic who would check a car before I buy it. So any recommendations of good mechanics or workshops are appreciated.

Also, as I don't have much experience in buying from used car dealers, I was wondering how much the price would usually drop if I have cash at hand.

I live in the San Fernando Valley and have a mechanic who has worked on all of my cars for years. He recently replaced my broken tensioners and timing chains and is located in Northridge. If you want to contact me I can give you his information. I know of another person who has worked on my XKR and who is very knowledgeable but very unreliable and flakey.
