Here is replacement microswitch for the "Door Closed" function - when your car thinks a door is open when it ain't, and the window doesn't go up all the way when you close it. The key element is that the mounting holes line up perfectly. Sealed. 3 amps. They cost less than $10 each.

I read in a few places on the forums that SU7012 can be used in lieu of the much more costly SU7015 my '99 XK8 calls for. $30 vs $105.

Rolled the dice and bought 2 of them and can confirm they seem to work properly. Torqued them down properly (can't remember the spec) and have driven the car a dozen or so times since installing and haven't seen any knock sensor codes since then. Try at your own risk, but working for me so far.

Default MAF Sensor - 2000 XK8

Just replaced the Denso MAF sensor in my 2000 XK8 with a new one. OEM part number was LNE1620CA which is no longer recognized on the Denso site. Replacement number is DMA0114; $ 117 from PartsGeek. I believe the same sensor fits a number of different Jaguar models, and is also a replacement for a number of Mazda and Subaru models.

Default Possible Interchangeable parts

I was talking to a retired Lincoln/ Mercury technician today and he stated:
"Yea, there's a lot of parts that went on the XX8 from Lincoln Mark VII and VIII's".
For example "the whole Interior steering column including the steering wheel just the air bag pad has a Lincoln logo instead of a Jaguar". He further stated that he thought the door mounted seat adjusting switch in the aluminum body XK came from Lincoln.
I have never been in a Lincoln Mark VII or VIII so I don't know but I could sure use a Reach Motor, for my XK8, that doesn't cost so much (my car eats them annually).

?- Has anyone here heard this also.
?- If so, what other parts are interchangeable.
?- If so, is there some kind of "cross reference"

Let me know what you think.

Default XK8/ R Interchange

Sorry, I just don't know.
I'm hoping the electronics for the steering column will interchange because I need another Tilt motor.
I found a Mark VIII LSC on ebay and in the photos the steering wheel does look shaped the same and the Multi-function switches "looked similar" but I wouldn't trust them until a in-person inspection for a better look. Also, the 4way flasher switch is on top of the steering column in the Lincoln where the one in my Jaguar switch is on the instrument panel.

I guess the only way for now is to find a Lincoln (someone you know or at a wrecking yard) and "match up" your part with the one in the Lincoln.

Does anyone out there know a Lincoln dealer Parts counter person????

Good Luck!

Default NON-OEM waterpump for 1999 XK8

I replaced, without any problems whatsoever, the water pump on my 70,000 mile 1999 XK8. I used a Gates from www.partsgeek.com with their part number: 641-09063366. $50.98 plus shipping

Default Water Pump

R.D.,
That's great news.
Did you happen to notice if the water pump had Ceramic or Metal blades on the impeller (the early style had Ceramic then the late version had metal).
Thanks for the info!

Has anyone used Jaguar Land Rover Reno parts for a parts source? They offer a 20% discount which seems to be an improvement over the local dealer.

Is there another Genuine parts source that you would recommend? Used parts? Tom

I need the small air deflector (lowest one that gets knocked off on the parking lot curbs) under the front bumper and the left front access cover (to the headlight area) in the fender liner

you can try our forum sponsors - jagbits or SNG Barratts - both offer 10% discounts to forum members

for used - try 707autoparts or check the forum classifieds as there are a few folks breaking their XK's

Thanks for the info!
The specific part # I bought had metal impeller blades as well as the needed gaskets and seals.

When I removed the old one I found part of the old plastic thermo housing jammed in the water pump blades and that was probably what ended up causing it to leak. The mechanic who replaced the plastic thermo with the new aluminum one must had broken the old housing in order to remove it as I've seen others here say they've done it. Odd that it took several months to do its damage and didn't cause any overheating in the mean time.

Default Water Pump- additional info.

Thanks for the info.
Using the last eight numbers of your water pump I found that, that pump also fits, 4.2L Jag V8s AND the 2004 Thunderbird V8 (3.9L). According to partsgeek.

Just proves Ford "shared" parts across a lot of models.
Wish there was a way to see what other parts were "shared" so that they could be bought locally.

Thanks again!

Default Oil Drain Plug for 4.0L engine

In changing oil in my 1999 XK8 coupe, I looked for a new oil drain plug gasket. Advance Auto Parts had a complete oil drain plug with new gasket in stock on their Needa Part rack: #653116. The new plug is M14 - 1.50 and is an exact fit for my engine. I imagine it will fit all 4.0 L engines and 4.2 oil pans also.
$3.50 + tax

Very convenient find, Jimmie. At that price, I may pick up the set, ... just because.

Default 2005 XK8 Fuel Injection Pressure Regulator

3R3E9F972AA is the Ford replacement. You can find them on many of the Fords including the 2003 Taurus 3.0L , 2002 Ford Escort 2.0 L, and many others. below are the Alternate part numbers and the same part or compatible part can be found with prices ranging from 50$ to 160$ depending on what vehicle its listed with. I got mine at a NAPA store for around $85. I could have gotten cheaper but it was a Ford OEM part and was at the store.

Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): 3R3E9F972AA, 3R3Z9F972AA, 3R3Z9G756AC, 5G1142, 5S9017, AJ81279, AJ81452, AJ87977, F8CF9F972BE, F8CF9F972BF, F8CF9F972BG, F8CF9F972BH, F8CZ9F972BC, F8CZ9F972BD, F8CZ9F972BE, PR244, SU10479, SU13804, XR812489, XR815534, XW4Z9F972BA

I did not check them all but I think its accurate.

Default Replacement side marker light socket - XK8 and others

I found a direct and identical replacement socket for a badly corroded and non-repairable rear side marker light. My usual sources didn't have this part listed so I looked on eBay taking a chance that it was a Ford part.....BINGO.

It's Ford part number is F8RZ13K371AA and it's identical in every way with what came out of my 1999 XK8 in every way. The one on the left is from my car and the other 2 are from one of the eBay sellers. $10.24 shipped

I needed a MAF Sensor for my 1999 XK8 I found many on E Bay, they are fitted on many Subaru's Mazda's, and many other cars. I did not go for the cheapo $15 version. I stepped up for the $25 version. Works Fine, my part No 1AEAF00094 (Made in China).

Default Upper radiator hose

Replaced my upper radiator hose (radiator to thermostat housing) with an exact fit by REIM (made in Turkey) purchased from Advanced Auto. The part number is CHR0129R, $15.99 less 20% if you order on line.
I also learned that they have more parts for the XK8 than they list on line. If you go in person and get the counter guy to pull them up he can find a lot.
