Default XKR ’02 Purge Valve

I got fault code P0455 in my XKR. I think it is related to Purge Valve.

I ordered new used part which should fit to my car. With installation I found out that the part is not exactly the same. In old on there is a extra valve with green hat, new one has no. There is also difference with the code; old one is LJG1515AA (PA66-GF33) and new LJB1515AA (PA66-GF33).

I found out that someone has replaced purge valves for XK8 other way down succesfully; one without the green hat one with.

What is the purpose of the extra valve ? Is there some gas/air behind it ?

There is also available LJB1515BB (PA66-GF33) in ebay which should fit to my car ?

That valve is typically used as an "access" to the evap system for smoke machines. Smoke can be injected in there, and show you possible leaks to track down the source of these evap codes. To my knowledge, this is a simple tire-type valve with a "core" that can be unscrewed and removed for easier smoke flow. I cannot vouch for the part change otherwise. I would say check basic electrical resistance, etc. Check the cap seals off nicely, and there is an actual valve core in there. Once installed, you should also feel the valve tick as it is controlled by PWM. Another option is to check nice online catalogs (check sngbarratt) for cross references. I believe there has been a (small) zoo of different purge valves over the years...

I just had a PO443 code on my 99 XK8. The original had no green "hat". I found a similar looking valve for a 2002 ford F150 that looked identical except for the hat. Was a new open box item for less than $30. I installed it with a small mod to the barb on the hose connection and seems to work fine. Cleared the code and it has not come back for 2 weeks now. I could not get an audible click out of either valve, but when 12 volts was applied to the Ford valve, I was able to blow thru the hose connections, before installing.
