It looks like the correct Vin# and it looks like a 100. They assembly them so there is not a particular vin # just for limited additions. They may build one today and it will have the vin that's in the series on the assembly line and they may build them over a period of time. Here's How the Vin# breaks down. This is for a 2001 but 2002 are similar

Looks like mine except in coupe. Coupes are cool.

100's have - XKR 100 badge on nose, 20" BBS Montreals, Brembo brakes, XKR 100 emboss on aluminum door sills, special colored wood (daughter calls it "mossy wood") , "XKR 100" in gold letters on right bottom passenger side dash, aluminum pedals and shifter trim, "R" steering wheel emboss in center, Recaros with special leather.

Researched this car - might be a warning flag here. Previous owner seems enthusiastic and knowledgeable, but he lists the mileage as 60,590 on Oct 18, and the dealer currently lists it as 46,000.

So, how did it get from California to Florida in less than a month, and why the mileage discrepancy?

Car is at an easy credit dealer. Unsure how easy it is to roll or replace the odometer on this car, but it looks fishy.

There is some weird, shady stuff happening out there. Yesterday, I noticed THIS COUPE on cars.com, listed in Naples, FL at $ 34,900 (dream on) with 24,800 miles.

And several listings down, one finds THIS OTHER COUPE several thousand miles away in Chula Vista, CA...listed at $ 16,700, with 73,522 miles.

Both listings show the same photographs, of the same car. The individual seller in California has hijacked the photographs of the car in Florida, and is therefor misrepresenting her car.

There is no fraud, this common practice to use stock photos, the vins are different.

I, too, see that ALL the time! Like, I've seen photos from jag forum members' cars (maybe they are selling?), totally different listings across the nation with the same photos.

I saw a 15 year old documentary on rolling back dashboards, Jaguar had, at the time, some of the hardest digital dashes to crack. And that was on the late XJ40. I believe the X100 had very tough dashes to crack (or should I say... hack?).

mcbeefsteak... good work, Dr. Sherlock! I had no idea what to think... if the pictures were higher res I could maybe see the badging, I did notice however that the badge on the back is a standard looking XKR badge. Maybe this car is wearing a rare Sport Pkg I don't know about.

randyb...it is fraud in my opinion. If you use stock photos, you should say so. Otherwise, people have the right to assume that the photos are of the car being sold and reflect its condition.

It looks like a 100, the the gear shift knob is not from a 100 it should be leather not wood, that's the only thing that doesn't look right to me.

The car in the ad actually looks like an XKR-100. I'm willing to bet, though, something is a little off. I keep seeing cars with odd histories (like my XJ, for example) with the wrong gearshift knob. Mine should've had a black leather one, but it instead has the same wood one as the car in this ad did.

This makes 2 Limited Edition 100's I've seen on the market that looked dangerous. I once saw an XJR-100 for $10,000, 22k miles, and a slvg. title. This XKR-100 has had the clock turned back, or been dealt with by mechanics who can't read odometers, but report mileage anyway.

The XKR-100 is so beautiful... I love the Coupe too.

Glad to do it, I have been needing to take those pics for a while. When I was researching my car, had a hard time finding pics like that for the R-100.

My brother is a really smart dude who owned an indie Jag lot (Silvey Motors) for ten years in Austin. He knows Jags like I know my own kids. I asked him about rolling the odo. He replied:

"Depends on the year. On CAN-BUS cars (V-8 cars) the computer records the miles, so replacing the computer with one that has less miles recorded will do this. But, being a computer and is programmable, someone with the hardware (PDU and PECUS) and the software (usually dealer proprietary Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS)) can code the modules and update vehicle software. The major instrument pack on the XKS's are programmable (module is part of the cluster), or to check for compatibility if a used one is being used as a replacement (with lower miles), the VCATS label on the floor of the trunk has the part number needed to accomplish the swap. As there is a campagin on the clusters, taking an old one and reflowing the bad solder point on the back can also give you a cluster with different milage.
