XKSS-Why are there no fiberglass SKSS replicas/kits available (like the Cobras)?

There are, for example:

XKSS Jaguar | Classic Jaguar Replicas

That's one is in aluminium.

Classic Jaguar Replicas list a C-Type in either GRP or aluminium but their D-Type and XKSS are only offered in aluminium.

Odd, there are fiberglass replica/kits for just about everything else.
The XKSS, in my mind, is as awesome looking as a 427 Cobra.
And a "kit" would be similar to build as the Cobra.
Maybe no one is willing to offer their XKSS up to make a mold?

I've spent hours over the past weeks surfing the web, never came across TWRR?

Their website is rather sparse, I sent them an email, have not heard back.

I get the impression from their site, that they only sell completed cars? (Hope I'm incorrect.) I was wanting to find a kit.....lot less $$$

Looking forward to receiving more information from them.

Glad to help, Wayne. I'd love one myself but as it would be way above my pay grade, if I can help another aficionado find love, so much the better.

Interesting little note at the bottom of TWR Replica's website: "TWR Replicas are in no way associated or connected to TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing)." I only found it because I wondered about the name and if it were an outgrowth of THAT TWR, long associated with racing Jaguars. Not so much!

Realm Engineering has an XKSS offering, too. I'm not too clear in this list on what's fiberglass and what's aluminium:

Others probably know more detail than me, but there was a U.K. Cobra replica company, LR Roadsters, making kits for D-Types and XKSS's based on old Jaguar S-Types, XJ6's etc. The basic chassis was the same for Cobra and Jaguar. The name changed to RAM and then Realm. Now they make C-Type replicas and have stopped the D-Type and XKSS kits. I understand they completed ~100 XKSS kits and a few hundred D-Types. Their D-Type replicas come up for sale quite regularly. TWRR assembled Realm kits but I guess there aren't any more to assemble.

Well, I must be going senile, I've been to the Realm website several times already and completely missed: All ‘D’ Type body variants available including XKSS, authentically shaped and produced in composite GRP material.

agree 100%, a shortened XKSS body on a Triumph, misses the mark by a large margin.

Tribute does offer 90" wheelbase XKSS's and D-Types, just the body.

There is a gentleman on Madabout-kitcars, kit cars kit car info cobra kit cars replica cars forum that is considering placing a D-Type on a Factory Five Cobra chassis, interesting idea.

Yes, that's true. I have driven a LR/RAM/Realm XKSS which was built from an XJ6 4.2. It was terrific. Looked good, sounded good and was plenty fast enough (triple Weber 45's etc.). I wanted to buy it but couldn't agree on a price with the seller. Still waiting for one to come along that I can afford. Good luck with the project.

I envy you, actually driving a LR/RAM/Realm XKSS. I did borrow my brother XKE a couple of times, what an awesome car! Nothing like a real Jaguar.
The XKSS is my second choice, very close second choice, after a Cobra.
The Realm kit is priced about the same as a "good" Cobra kit, that's a lot of money for a second toy. An XKSS body from Tribute is move in my price range.

This is an old thread but LR/RAM have now changed hands and I am not sure what is happening at the moment. Adrian Cocking, the old owner, had stopped making XKSS shells some years back anyway. One make that hasn't been mentioned, but not really applicable because A) they are alloy and B) extremely expensive are Lynx. Rare, well made but only a few made in the 70s/80s/90s but really lovely cars. I came across these photos of one recently.
