Electrical problems?
Hi, we have just bought a used Jaguar X type 2004. There are a few problems that may or may not be linked???
Drivers door - you have to pull the handle several times before it opens.
- the window won't go all the way up
We have 2 key fobs, neither will lock the doors at any time using the buttons (but the key itself works) but intermittently neither the key or key fob won't open the door at all!
Could this be a problem with the battery? Or maybe the driver's door has been damaged in an accident and hasn't been fixed properly?
We're a bit clueless so any help would be appreciated! Thanks

The following link will take you to a thread with a write up for the door latch repair. It is a common problem.
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...oor-faq-48827/
Key fob issue is probably bad batteries. Change them and if they still do not work do a forum search for the steps to program the FOB for the x-type.
Key occasionally working is probably a sticky lock assembly. Get some good lock lubricant and spray it generously. While you are at it spray the ignition switch with a lttle of it to make sure the little door on the ignition is opening and closing properly.
While you have the door card off for the repair of the door handle you should be able to observe the operation and exam the tracks, cable and guides on the window.
MAKE SURE THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED !!!!! The window mechanism can trap and damage and arm while you are working in the door.
