hi
i have 1998 jag xj8 with nikasil engine, and try to do all the labour with myself - remove the engine,desmantling it and then send the engine block for reboring and fix new steel liners.
my big problem is how to split the engine out of gearbox ,cos there is nuts wich seems to be unrecheble

$$125 !!! not to rain on your parade ken, but I remember getting my JTIS manual for about $30 - from some british website, something like "electronicmanuals.co.uk", or close to it. Rather than waiting for the cd rom, you can just download some huge disc image file (1GB plus) after you've paid for it, and then mount it and voila.

i have my JTIS on CD wich cost me $ 0.99 . but there is saying - Release the engine and transmission assembly from the engine compartment.Take the weight of the engine / transmission with the hoist and move it towards the front of the vehicle.Lower the transmission jack slightly to release the securing chains. Remove the jack from below the vehicle.Remove the engine and transmission assembly, upwards and forwards, from the vehicle.
