To keep or to trade.

To keep or to trade.
I am considering the amazing new Volvo XC90 Hybrid. Thanks to Costco I have a good price on the car I want.
The dealer has offered me $27k for my 2011 XJL SC with 37k on it. Seems very low ball but Edmunds is not much more.
It almost doesn't seem worth trading it in for that kind of money since the almost identical car in 2017 would be $110,000.
Thoughts? I guess having my bespoke English sedan and a great SUV might be acceptable.

If you can afford to keep the XJ why not keep it ? I don't know much about the Volvo SUV you mention, but you might like to read this review : -

We have been hunting and then just bought a very nice low mile 2011 XJ, based on what I have seen your dealer offer is about right. By taking the time to sell it yourself you could likely get in the low to mid $30Ks.
I would keep the XJ

I'll admit I know absolutely nothing about the Volvo SUV, but there's both a Lincoln Navigator and a Cadillac Escalade in my past so I'm not totally unfamiliar with the high-end SUV concept. That having been said, I would keep the XJL because an SUV is highly unlikely to match it for style or comfort.
