Default 2005 super V8 subwoofers

guys, sounds like something is blown in the rear. do these subs usually fail at some point? the system doesn't have the full low end I think it should have and im getting distortion at mid/higher volumes. I saw a couple of alpine units on ebay but wanted to make sure im getting the correct units. they are alpine pn#2R83-18808-BC. looks like its encased in black plastic but I cant tell the diameter. are there two of these? it indicates right or left

The OEM rear deck speakers are not subwoofers. Calling them woofers is a stretch. The are designed for this application . Most other 6 1/2 subs are designed for sealed box loading.

thanks. Ive read most of the related threads through search , but im unsure which direction to take. and just to confirm , on the 05 super, I have to take out the back seat ect etc? im tempted just to drop in the "earthquake " replacements in the second link and give it a go.

Look up Evan's threads. He has done some amazing things, and knows the system well.
