Hey Tom, the car looks awesome and the wheels are just fabulous
Having seen more than a few of your previous posts and pics of your rides I'm sure they'll be in AS NEW condition and probably a great buy for anyone looking for something along these lines for their baby.

I wish you the best of luck with the sale

So are you going back to the stock wheels permanently or do you have something else in mind?

Just going with a different design. Finalized the order on my new wheels yesterday and will take 4-6 weeks to make and shipped.

I like to change wheels. I did it on my previous two cars.

Twice on my previous MB.

Forgot to include the offsets of the wheels.

Therefore, the specs of these wheels are as follows:

Fronts 20x9 with a +40 offset
Rears 20x10 with a +25 offset
Bolt pattern is 5-108

Thanks!
Tom

Thanks! Love your 993. Those things fetch a pretty penny these days (appreciates instead of depreciates). More pics of the 993 if you can share with us.

hey ghostrider... off the topic but. i've always been curious to hear your opinions of your xkr vs your sl65. i'm interested in both your personal take (which you prefer on different levels, power, handling, fit/finish, etc) as well as things you hear from admirers of both. does one get more attention than the other? oh and, i love 993's too. i don't think we're alone either!

Hey Ed....I kinda explained it in a different post....

XKR is a great GT and the '10+ are faster but still want something more sporty and faster. My buddy was telling me he can get a ECU tune at the Porsche dealer for an additional 100HP and still have full waranty!

Heck even 2010 997TT with PDK ran 0-60MPH in 2.9 seconds.....and that was in stock form! This was in C&D.

Compared to the SL65 AMG, the XKR is slower (that's why I'm modding the XKR ). Eventhough the SL65 is a heavy car, the XKR can't compete with the V12 Twin Turbo. I have to also say the fit and finish and overall built quality isn't as good on the XKR. XKR also does not have as many features (ie. controllable dampaning, massage seats, cooling seats, DIC, convertible hardtop) but what it does have is better looks and better Navi. But when you put price into it (new 2006 SL65 was $185K vs. 2008 XKR around $90K), the XKR is a bargain!!! The SL65 is not $100K nicer....IMO.

I have no regrets on getting the XKR as it always puts a smile whenever I drive it. Also, in my post above regarding modding......too much horsepower corrupts.........I can send my car to Brabus (eventhough I would never do that) to have my car modded....but again too much power corrupts and it's no fun anymore......here is Clarkson testing a Brabus SL65....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dfff-s2OMc
Just to add to the above.....

LOOKS: It all depends on who's asking In general, the Jaguar gets more looks for the exterior but the SL65 gets more looks for having the V12 Twin Turbo. Here is a good example.....when I take the SL65 to the club to workout, those who are interested are guys who knows about cars . Whenever I take the XKR, those who are interested are mostly girls who like the look. Although I get compliment from girls whenever I have the top down on the SL65. Therefore, the SL65 is about the engine and performance, the XKR is more about the looks. Another good example is when one time when I was in the SL65, this guy had a suprised facial expression when he saw the V12 Biturbo badge on the side of the car (engine/performance). One time when I was in the XKR, the guy just smiled and gave me the thumbs up (look of the XKR). Therefore, when someone is talking about the SL65, it's about the performance while someone is talking to me about the XKR, it's about the looks.

PERFORMANCE: Straight line the SL65 pulls like a freight train. Stock.....11.75 in the 1/4 mile. Twistys, I would have to give the edge to the XKR. The SL65 is a pig and the lighter XKR should go around bends faster. It is easier to mod the SL65 though. For example, an Renntech Package 3: ECU and TCU tune, airbox, exhaust and intercooler....I'm close to 704HP and 910 Torque. This isn't even touching the internals. For more power, I can upgrade the turbos a'la Supra and 911 Turbo guys. The biggest downfall on the SL65 is the weight.

OTHER LIKES: Love the Exhaust sound on the XKR when accellerating (especially after swapping the stock exhaust to more of a free flowing one). Love the burbling on the SL65 when downshifting from 2nd to 1st. Also, I can get it to backfire once in awhile (too much spent fuel) as it sounds like a gunshot. My buddy's Viper burbles much louder and sometimes see flames coming out of his exhaust when downshifting his Viper.

At the end if I had to pick one over the other, I would have to say I would keep the SL65 over the XKR....I'm more of a straight line guy. Most guys who have seen both seems to agree. The SL65 feels more sporty with the smaller dimensions and 2 seats. The last 2 years, I put more miles on the SL65 (12k miles) than the XKR (7K miles). I also notice my tread on my SL65 has 1/4 left I still have 3/4 tread left on the XKR. I've also notice people wants rides in the SL65 over the XKR. Most likely to feel the power and the convertible factor.

If I had to do it all over again I would consider the P-Car 997TT or I wish the V10 R8 was available at that time. As for the R8, I would love to have the Statis R8 (Supercharged) with 710HP and retains full factory warranty.........http://tiny.cc/dvn9w

thanks! sorry i made you re-post. i guess i'd have to say i agree with all. that sl of yours has got to be a beast. in the end i wanted a unique car (looks wise) and i also wanted 2 back seats so the sl wasn't even an option. there are a ton of sls out there (not bi-turbos of course, but you get the idea). the jag is relatively tame when compared to an sl or 997 on steriod for sure. still.... it's enough power for me given the fact that i've already had my license suspended once and therefore drive pretty tamely. anyway - thanks for the insight. enjoy both and good luck selling the rims!

I have to agree there are many many SL's on the road. What I don't like is they all look similar.....SL500, SL600, SL55, SL65 for the oval headlight models. I think that was why that one guy looks suprised when he saw the V12 Biturbo. MB just change alittle on the bumper, taillights, foggies, wheels, exhaust tips and badging to differentiate them. Just like Jaguar doesn't differentiate the XK and XKR enough that a casual observer won't know the difference. Don't get me wrong....I love my XKR.

For example...here is my buddy's SL500 (V8 302HP silver) and my SL65 (V12 Twin Turbo 604HP pewter)....as you can see....with double the horsepower as my buddy's SL....they look practically the same.

i like what mb has done with the new ones. excellent facelift in my opinion. though i just came from visiting family in florida and like every freakin' altakaker (old geezer) is driving around in one down there. i was at a restaurant one night and outside was an '11 sl65 amg right next to maclaren sl!!!! both charcoal (flint i think is mercedes name for the color). then it feels like one out of 10 cars down there is an sl500 or an sl55. ah to be old and have unlimited amounts of money... haha. i'd rather be young and on a budget actually!

Arghhh...I thought I sold my wheels a few weeks ago as the guy was suppose to meet to pickup but he never showed. He then emailed me and said it might not fit on his project car and so he backed out.

New firesale price!!!! Need to sell to make room. Thanks.
